The tennis world has been left shocked after a player suddenly collapsed mid-match at the Washington Open, with many fans concerned about the “stifling” hot weather the sport has to be played in this time of year.
A ‘disgusting’ act of sportsmanship at the WTA Hungarian Grand Prix has sent the tennis world into an uproar.
The incident occurred in a match between Chinese star Zhang Shuai and Hungarian Amarissa Toth in Budapest.
Ms Toth was caught on camera wiping away the markings of a ruled out shot by Shuai, while her opponent and the chair umpire were arguing over the decision.
The ordeal unfolded on Monday (local time) at the Mubadala Citi DC when China’s Yibing Wu fainted at the end of the first set in his opening match of the tournament.
