AO boss says tennis must evolve, fast

Australian Open boss Craig Tiley has called for major changes to tennis to speed up the sport to ensure the sport remains popular among young fans.

Tennis: Novak Djokovic claimed a four set win over Taylor Fritz to land a spot in the Semi Finals, where he will chase an incredible 11th Australian Open title win.

In an exclusive interview with the Herald Sun, Mr Tiley said the game’s powerbrokers needed to shake its traditions and format to ensure the sport and major events like the Australian Open stayed attractive.

“I absolutely think it has to evolve and I absolutely think the game needs to change,” he said.

Australia’s grand slam has already been at the forefront of change with a world-first party court and relaxed fan entry to matches this year, as well as Melbourne Park concerts and an LGBTI+ “Glam Slam”.
