Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou is adamant he didn’t want Sam Burgess to leave after the club legend parted ways with South Sydney in controversial circumstances on Wednesday morning.
The Souths board met on Tuesday night to decide whether to axe assistant coaches Burgess and John Morris following a fallout with coach Jason Demetriou.
The board meeting came after The Sydney Morning Herald reported the assistants were concerned that Demetriou wasn’t tough enough superstar duo Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker and that they were receiving preferential treatment.
Burgess walked following discussions with the club on Wednesday morning, while Morris was was spared.
