  • Inaugural rugby league combine will be available to athletes in the US
  • Open trials could lure ex-NFL and college athletes to the NRL
  • NRL double header is locked in for Sunday, March 3 in Las Vegas (AEST)

In a bold bid to make the sport a truly global game, the NRL will hold open trials for former NFL and college players looking to switch to rugby league during its promotional trip to Las Vegas next year.

Sources told Fairfax Media all 17 NRL club bosses have been informed of the plan and representatives are expected to fly to Sin City where interested players can enter a rugby league combine.

It will be in the lead up to the NRL’s double-header to open the 2024 season, where Allegiant Stadium will host round one clashes featuring the Rabbitohs against the Sea Eagles and Kevin Walters’ Broncos will tackle the Roosters.
