Storm enforcer Nelson Asofa-Solomona has made a sobering admission amid a growing emphasis on player safety in the wake of education surrounding brain trauma injuries.

In July Queensland legend Wally Lewis revealed he had been diagnosed with probably Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).

CTE is a brain condition triggered by repeated mild traumatic brain injuries and is a form of dementia that can only be formally diagnosed after a person passes away.

He joined a growing number of former players, including Rabbitohs legend Mario Fenech and Eels hero Ray Price, who have admitted they are struggling with conditions such as dementia.

Asofa-Solomona also believes it is rife even among current players.

“I honestly reckon a bunch of us have CTE already to be honest,” Asofa-Solomona said to The Courier Mail.
