The state of South Australia is moving forward with previously-announced plans for additional licensing requirements meant for buyers of high-performance cars. The new license would be required as of December 1st, 2024.
The new license, which the state will call “U Class,” will require the completion of a new online course currently being developed. Current owners of cars that qualify for the licensing restrictions will be asked to complete the course before the deadline. The state also announced additional restrictions, including fines of up to $5000 AUD for disabling driver aids like traction control, stability control, ABS, and automated emergency braking.
