Scott closed with a seven-under final-round 63 to tie for seventh with countryman Cam Davis as Lucas Glover scored a two-shot win over fellow American Russell Henley.
Scott wound up in 72nd position in the season-long FedExCup points standings, with only the top-70 players progressing to the $US75 million Playoffs.
The former World No.1 and American veteran Matt Kuchar had the distinction of being the only two players to have qualified for the playoffs every year since their inception in 2007.
Now Kuchar is the last man standing after making it once more.
