Keen to tap into the growing amount of local and international visitors who spend hundreds of millions travelling to play golf each year, Crown Resorts has clinched a sponsorship deal with Golf Australia.
The casino and hotel group will also become a partner of the Australian Open golf tournament in Sydney in late November, which will feature the combined $3.5m men’s and women’s Open played concurrently at The Australian and The Lakes Golf Clubs.
Crown Resorts chief executive Ciarán Carruthers said the golf agreement, to be announced on Wednesday with Crown ambassador, media personality Karl Stefanovic, was part of the company’s overall revamp of its Australian operations, which was taken over by global giant Blackstone in a $8.9bn deal last year.
