‘Lucky and proud’: Tigers hero calls time

A star of Richmond’s triple premiership dynasty will join Trent Cotchin in an emotion-packed farewell game this weekend.

Riewoldt, who famously danced on the stage with The Killers after the epic 2017 premiership breakthrough, will leave as one of the Tigers all-time greats after 346 games and a mammoth 786 goals in black and yellow.

The three-time Coleman medallist and dual best and fairest winner, who told teammates of his decision on Tuesday, said the Tigers were “ready to regenerate” and he had decided it was the right time to “move on to the next chapter”.

“I never thought my journey would get this far or that I would be a part of anything like what I have been. But I am so thankful for everyone who has played a part,” Riewoldt said.
