Joel Selwood is an absolute lock to make the Australian football Hall of Fame, but Garry Lyon is willing to go one step further and believes the Geelong captain will one day be elevated to Legend status.
A player must be retired for five seasons before they are eligible for the Hall of Fame, with Selwood still yet to confirm his playing future.
The 34-year-old is now a four-time premiership player and became a premiership skipper on Saturday. He is a six-time All-Australian, three-time best and fairest winner, holds the record for Geelong games played, most games as an AFL captain and the most total finals ever played.
Selwood was instrumental in the Grand Final win over Sydney, finishing with 26 disposals, eight marks and a goal.
