AFL backs controversial Carlton, Melbourne goal call

Carlton defender Caleb Marchbank is adamant he touched the ball, and while replays raise doubts about what actually happened the AFL says Melbourne were not dudded on Saturday night.

AFL: The Melbourne Demons have suffered a narrow loss to Carlton after a string of clutch calls went against them.

The last-gasp victory over Melbourne all but locked in Carlton’s finals participation with the Blues on 12 and a half wins and with a strong percentage.

The Blues can now make a cautious call on returning stars Sam Walsh and Adam Cerra, still unsure whether they will return against Gold Coast.

Walsh has missed three weeks with a hamstring issue while Cerra has missed two, with coach Michael Voss not guaranteeing their return on Saturday night.
