The cricket world has been left gobsmacked after Aussie fast bowler Spencer Johnson sealed a remarkable record in a scarcely believable spell of bowling in The Hundred. In an eye-catching debut for Oval Invincibles in England’s domestic white-ball competition, the South Australian took the ridiculous figures of 3-1 to help his side thrash Manchester Originals by 94 runs.
Johnson’s blistering 20-ball spell contained a staggering 19 dot balls, just the one run and three wickets as the Invincibles restricted their Manchester opponents to just 92 runs at the Oval, in pursuit of 187 for victory. The Adelaide-born star’s bowling display was the most economical 20-ball effort ever in The Hundred.
