The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is celebrating its 10th year in 2023, with 64 teams again competing in a single-elimination tournament in which the winning team splits a $1 million grand prize.
Competing in TBT for a second straight year is India Rising, which again has brought together some of the world’s best players of Indian origin to compete in the tournament. The second year has proven to be a charm, as India Rising opened the tournament with a historic upset victory over Red Scare, fueled by 29 points from Tajinder Lall.
Reiterating its purpose and mission from last year, India Rising brings together “the world’s best ballers from both the Indian subcontinent and its diaspora.” The team’s description adds that “India Rising was created to showcase to the world that brown ballers exist.”
