Storm Hunter and Rinky Hijikata receive US Open wildcards

Game. Set and Match. 2 Aussies have received wildcard entries to the US Open starting this month.

Storm Hunter (WA) and Rinky Hijikata (NSW) have been awarded US Open main draw singles wildcards. The final Grand Slam of 2023 will begin in New York on Monday 28 August.

In total, 12 Australians are entered in the singles main draw. Hijikata joins Alex de Minaur (NSW), Aleksandar Vukic (NSW), Jordan Thompson (NSW), Alexei Popyrin (NSW), Max Purcell (NSW), Christopher O’Connell (NSW), Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) and Jason Kubler (Qld) in the men’s draw and Hunter joins Daria Saville (Vic) and Ajla Tomljanovic (Qld) in the women’s draw.

A further 10 Australians will compete in qualifying. World No.5 and Wimbledon singles finalist Heath Davidson (Vic) is entered in the quad wheelchair tennis competition.
