Novak Djokovic’s bid for a record-extending 11th Australian Open title is over, with the world number one dumped out at the semi-finals by Jannik Sinner 6-1 6-2 6-7(6) 6-3.
It was Djokovic’s first loss at Melbourne Park since 2018, and his first loss ever this deep into an Australian Open. Sinner will face either Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev in the final.
The 22-year-old Italian claimed the first two sets 6-1 6-2 as Djokovic imploded in spectacular fashion, delivering one of the worst performances of his career amid a mountain of unforced errors.
