Excitement builds at Brunswick Tennis Club after receiving State Government funding to replace tennis courts

A Brunswick Junction sporting club is one step closer to a much-needed infrastructure upgrade.

The Brunswick Tennis Club will begin a highly anticipated court upgrade later this year after receiving a $53,000 grant from the State Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund.

President Julianne Hill said the club was “so excited” to have received the funding.

“We need to (improve) these courts and I think kids will be rapt — they will be so excited,” she said.

The courts at the club last received an upgrade about a decade ago when plastic tiles were laid on top of the existing “really degraded” surface.

But the tiles are now deteriorating and becoming a trip hazard for players.

“At the time, it was the best service but this upgrade will do the job properly and we think this will last and we’re really happy about that,” Ms Hill said.
