Tedesco out of Roosters-Souths NRL clash

Sydney Roosters captain James Tedesco has been ruled out of his side’s elimination final with South Sydney because of concussion.

Tedesco was the victim of a high shot from Rabbitohs prop Tom Burgess in the 18th minute of Sunday’s game and was ordered off for a head injury assessment by the NRL’s independent doctor.

The 29-year-old fullback was given the green light to return but as he was preparing to come back on he showed concussion symptoms and was immediately ruled out. 

At halftime Souths, who lost Burgess and Taane Milne to the sin-bin, led the Roosters 12-8. 

The Roosters moved Joseph Suaalii to fullback after Tedesco’s head knock.

Their second-rower Angus Crichton also left the field for a head injury assessment after getting his head on the wrong side of Burgess when trying to make a tackle.

Crichton was also ruled out of the game while fellow Roosters’ forward…
