Eddie McGuire booed ‘Country Road’ song when it played on PA for Brisbane Lions

Eddie McGuire has defended Collingwood‘s booing of John Denver’s ‘Country Roads’ that was sung when Brisbane goal sneak Charlie Cameron kicked goals during the grand final.

But Jimmy Bartel hit back at the antics, saying that song, amongst others, which has been played at the Gabba whenever Lions players boot a major, isn’t meant to be an unfair advantage.

The Magpies overcame Brisbane by four points to collect their 16th premiership in an instant classic at the MCG.

Despite the gusty game, Bartel called out McGuire and Collingwood fans booing at the start of the second quarter, after Cameron booted his first goal of the match and ‘Country Roads’ rang out at the ground for the second time.
