Wallabies star Samu Kerevi, Jack Maddocks join Australia Sevens team, Tim Walsh

It’s official, Samu Kerevi is on track for Tokyo.

In a massive boost for Australia’s men’s sevens gold medal hopes, the Wallabies star, along with Test teammate Jack Maddocks, are in the mix to go to the Olympics.

Wallabies squad member Tim Anstee, who was included in Dave Rennie’s extended 40-man squad in April, will also rejoin the squad on Monday.

Kerevi, the destructive centre who started for Michael Cheika’s Wallabies at the 2019 World Cup, joined the squad on Thursday after completing his quarantine after his second season playing in Japan’s Top League.

He was at training on Friday in Sydney, where former Wallabies defence coach Nathan Grey continues to work with the squad, watching from the sidelines as he continues to recover from a MCL injury suffered during Suntory’s Top League’s quarter-final victory last month.
