The Newcastle Knights were straight into damage control around the departure of highly-popular utility Connor Watson and so they should be given the noise around town about how the club is being run.
Having re-watched NRL 360 from Tuesday night it’s blatantly clear at no point did anyone say Watson was leaving because he had a problem with coach Adam O’Brien.
What was said was Watson’s departure to the Sydney Roosters for $450,000 less than the three-year deal the Knights offered lends itself to the fact the coaching staff and the playing group might not always be on the same page.
