Tigers coach quits after missing top job

Andrew McQualter narrowly missed the top job at Richmond and has made a call on his next move.

AFL: Craig McRae told AFL 360 he hasn’t worn his premiership medal as it wasn’t awarded to all the coaches at the club.

McQualter, 37, had spent 10 years at Richmond since joining the club before the 2014 season and was thrust into the main coaching seat this season when Damien Hardwick stepped down.

In 11 games as coach, McQualter won seven games.

He put his hand up for the full-time job and was in the final two when the process reached the pointy end.

But the Tigers instead went with a fresh voice in Adem Yze.

After contemplating his position, McQualter opted to look for a position at another AFL club.
