Darcy Parish remains resolute he’ll sign a new deal at Essendon imminently despite a contract standoff between the star midfielder and his club.
The 26-year-old currently doesn’t have a contract for next year, with talks dragging on throughout the year and now into the off-season.
SEN’s Tom Morris reported last week that along with payment, a key haggling issue remains the length of the deal.
Parish’s management is understood to be pushing for a six-year deal while Essendon is offering five. Scott Lucas, Parish’s manager, responded to those claims on Sunday, suggesting Essendon leaked against his client.
But the 2021 All-Australian shut down any talks of joining a new club with his comments to 9News on Monday.
“My manager and the club have had some great discussions, especially the last few days after the season has been done and dusted,” Parish told the network.
