Jack Robinson has stormed his way in to the WSL finals securing the last remaining spot in the final five after a heat-stopping triumph in Tahiti.
The 25-year-old from West Australia, who won the first event of 2023 in Hawaii, needed to win at Teahupoʻo, the final event of the regular season, to snare the last chance to compete for the world title in California next month.
Robinson needed just four waves to secure victory in the final, sealing his win with a barrel at the famous break which netted him a score of 7.83 and his Brazilian opponent Gabriel Medina couldn’t better it.
But Robinson could yet be the lone male in the final five as Ethan Ewing, who finished third on the rankings, deals with a fractured back he suffered in the lead-up to the event in Tahiti which could sideline him for more than two months.
