FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 news: NSW Premier Chris Minns slammed for ‘cringe’ Matildas tweets

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has been slammed for his tweets about the Matildas as they demolished Canada in a shock result to go top of Group B.

As many state premiers have particularly since the fragmentation of Covid, Minns has made state-based parochialism a feature of his online presence, and since the beginning of the World Cup has made sure to try and wedge in as many references to his home state as possible.

And fans and pundits alike have ripped into the Labor leader for his “cringe” and “embarrassing” tweets.
