Professor of Political Science & constitutional law expert Matt Qvortrup says that celebrity endorsements of referendums “don’t work” because people are focused on how an issue is solved, not who supports it. “If Andy Murray is saying that Scotland should become an independent country, then you’d sort of think, well, Andy Murray doesn’t have to struggle with a mortgage,” Mr Qvortrup told Sky News Australia. “Andy Murray is not very much like me, nor is David Beckham or Bruce Springsteen or whoever comes out in favour of something.”
