Players have expressed their shock, and concerns, after the PGA Tour and LIV Golf announced a stunning merger that seemingly very few knew was coming.
The pair have merged their commercial operations, ending all litigation, while LIV Golf’s Saudi backers have also committed significant capital to the new for-profit entity.
Given the scale of golf war for nearly two years, its extreme partisanship and the level of bitterness from both sides, it’s a deal that many expected would never happen.
And it’s put a number of players off-side, with some feeling they have been betrayed by the PGA Tour having initially turned down money to join LIV.
