Patrick Cantlay couldn’t hold back his emotions.
There he was, ditching his usual stoicism with every fist pump and shout – firing up the crowd during a Sunday singles victory over Shane Lowry at the 2021 Ryder Cup.
And what a day that was.
It had been a turbulent decade for Cantlay. He was the world’s best amateur and collegiate player in 2011, earning his PGA Tour card in 2014,but injuries delayed the former UCLA Bruin’s road to stardom.
