Louis Oosthuizen’s first purchase when he won the Open Championship in 2010 wasn’t a brand new Mercedes or a holiday beach home, but a John Deere tractor.
As a proud farmer’s boy from rural South Africa, Oosthuizen hasn’t grown tired of the simple joys of riding around the ranch.
“I’m always on the tractor, don’t worry,” he said this week. “I don’t need to play good or bad to be on the tractor.”
He now lives in Florida where he will soon return, hop on one of his beloved machines, and life will be great.
Until then, however, things are a bit more complex.
