Sydney FC Captain Natalie Tobin is to miss the rest of the Liberty A-League 2023-24 Women’s season after scans confirmed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (acl) in her right knee.
The 27-year old skipper was stretchered off in the second half of Saturday’s 2-0 Sydney Derby win over Western Sydney Wanderers, after going to ground while making a tackle in the penalty area.
Tobin lifted both the Championship and Premiership trophies last season and was named the Sydney FC’s Women’s Player of the Year at the Sky Blue Ball.
“It’s devastating to miss the season, especially as it has only just started,” she said.
“I’m still coming to terms with it but the support I’ve had from the girls, from the club, the coaching staff and the fans, as well as family and friends has been amazing.
