Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he “feels sorry” for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, suggesting that he does not have a leading star to lean on for support.
After United’s hopes of signing England captain Harry Kane faded away, they switched their focus to Hojlund. The 20-year-old joined the club from Italian outfit Atalanta in August in a deal that could eventually be worth up to £72million.
United, with the exception of Marcus Rashford, were unable to call upon a reliable goalscorer last season, meaning they prioritised signing a new No.9. However, Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford having scored just 10 goals in Atalanta colours last season, meaning he is yet to have proven himself as a seasoned goalscorer.
