Replay 2019 Champions League final! Luis Diaz incident not only Tottenham vs Liverpool injustice

There is a sense of injustice around Liverpool Football Club at the moment and rightly so. Or at least semi-rightly so.

The Reds were wrongly denied a goal during the game with Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday when Luis Diaz was adjudged to have been offside before scoring past Guglielmo Vicario. Diaz was clearly onside and the mistake came when the VAR believed the on-field decision to have been goal when relaying to Simon Hooper “check complete”.

It was another 45 seconds later that Hooper was made aware there had been a miscommunication and a huge error made. Nothing could be done by then, with the game already back under way under International FA Board VAR protocols and the Laws of the Game – a ludicrous rule in itself.
