Reason AFL legend will meet with Tassie footy bosses

Two-time Essendon premiership player and 1993 Norm Smith medallist Michael Long will touch down in Tasmania to meet with Southern Football League bosses and appear at Hobart Town Hall for a special event.

Long, a two-time All-Australian midfielder and Essendon superstar who played 190 games for the storied club, devoted himself to advocating for indigenous Australians after his playing career.

He will speak at an event to promote the Indigenous Voice to Parliament at Hobart Town Hall on Thursday, which is being organised by the Yes campaign.

“We deserve to have a say in decisions that affect our lives,” Long said.

“I think you’ve got to be optimistic. And you’ve got to believe in change. I’d like to see that change in my lifetime.”
