UPDATED: Lance ’Buddy’ Franklin will not travel to Melbourne to take part in the retiring players’ motorcade on grand final day despite a public plea from outgoing AFL chief Gill McLachlan
According to Franklin’s former teammate Jordan Lewis, Franklin has decided to skip the formality, instead opting to stay on the Gold Coast where he and his family have moved.
“I spoke to him Tuesday and he didn’t make the trip down, that’s OK,” he told Fox Footy’s AFL 360.

Franklin announced his retirement from the game in July, days after hobbling off the field injured in what would be his last appearance for the Swans.
