AFLW Match Review: Britney Gutknecht learns fate at Tribunal

Western Bulldogs midfielder Britney Gutknecht has faced the AFLW Tribunal, after making a crunching chase-down tackle on Sydney’s Paige Sheppard.

Though Sheppard was penalised for holding the ball, the midfielder-forward was slow to rise from the contact and was eventually helped off the ground by trainers. 

The AFLW announced that Gutknecht would be referred directly to the Tribunal, with the midfielder facing the longest suspension in AFLW history, if found guilty.

In the action, Gutknecht appeared to pin the Swans player’s arms below head height, with the force of the tackle bringing Sheppard to the ground. 

The MRO graded the 22-year-old’s hit as careless conduct and high contact with severe impact.
