More than half of the Townsville Bulletin’s Top 100 local Aussie rules players of 2023 will make their debut appearance on the annual rankings countdown.
The changing of the guard in Townsville football has been significant, with new and returning faces making major impacts on the Senior Men’s and Women’s competitions.
Of the 57 Top 100 first-timers, 26 made their top grade debuts in 2023, either promoted from the Reserves competition or recruited from outside the region or from other sports inside it.
Eight former players, who did not take the field in 2022, returned in 2023 to take their place among the Top 100 for the first time.
A further 23 players who missed out on a place in the inaugural ranking entirely have staked their claim to earn a place this season.
