England’s Jos Buttler has revealed he and a number of other players could skip the Ashes tour at the end of the year over Australia’s strict quarantine rules.
Current restrictions mean that the families of the tourists are unlikely to be allowed to enter Australia at all over the course of the five-Test series.
Players are seeking assurances over the matter before committing to the tour, with the ECB and Cricket Australia in talks.
That means players could go as long as four months without seeing their families, as England will play the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in October and November before heading straight to Australia.
