Why Lonzo Ball believes he’ll play for the Chicago Bulls again

progress and how I feel,” Ball said. “I think the main thing is to just stay positive and stay patient. Just keep working every day and keep grinding. It’s a process, but I know I’ll be back on the court.”

Ball’s journey to this point has been a grueling one. His knee issues began during his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he has since undergone multiple surgeries to try and fix the problem. Each setback has been a blow to his career and his confidence, but Ball remains determined to make a comeback.

“I just love the game of basketball,” Ball said. “It’s what I’ve been doing my whole life. I can’t imagine not being able to play again. I know it’s going to be a process, but I have confidence that I can get back out there and compete at a high level.”

The 24-year-old guard has been working diligently with the Bulls’ medical staff to rehab his knee and get back to full strength. He has been focusing on building strength, improving his range of motion, and regaining his explosiveness. And while he hasn’t been cleared to participate in basketball activities just yet, he’s inching closer to that milestone.

“I’m just taking it one day at a time,” Ball said. “I’m doing everything the doctors and trainers are telling me to do, and I’m feeling good. Whenever they give me the green light, I’ll be ready to go.”

The Bulls have been supportive throughout Ball’s rehab process, providing him with all the necessary resources and believing in his ability to bounce back. They saw firsthand what he’s capable of during the 2019-20 season, when he averaged a career-high 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game.

“He’s such a talented player,” Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said. “He impacts the game in so many different ways. We’re excited to have him back on the court and see what he can do for us.”

While Ball’s return to the court is still uncertain, his positive mindset and determination are clear. He knows there will be challenges along the way, but he’s confident that he can overcome them.

“I’m not going to lie, it’s been tough,” Ball admitted. “There have been times when I’ve questioned whether I’ll ever play again. But I’ve worked so hard to get to this point, and I believe in myself. I know I can do it.”

Ball’s rehab process serves as a reminder of the mental and physical toll that injuries can have on athletes. It’s easy to overlook the hard work and perseverance that goes into making a comeback, but Ball’s story is a testament to the power of resilience.

As Ball continues to work towards his goal of returning to the court, he hopes that his story can inspire others who may be going through their own struggles.

“I just want people to know that anything is possible,” Ball said. “No matter how tough things may seem, if you believe in yourself and put in the work, you can overcome anything. I’m living proof of that.”

For now, Ball will continue to focus on his rehab and take things one step at a time. His return to the court may still be in the future, but his determination and optimism are unwavering.

“I’m not giving up,” Ball said. “I’m going to keep pushing and keep fighting. I believe that I’ll be back on the court soon, and when I am, I’ll be better than ever.”
