NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo has remained undaunted by Rugby Australia’s plans to target NRL talent leading into the 2027 Rugby World Cup held in Australia.

The strategy resembles shades of the 2003 Rugby World Cup where the Wallabies drew in the likes of Wendell Sailor, Mat Rogers and Lote Tuqiri from the NRL.

Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan has revealed that a handful of NRL players have expressed interest in a swap to the 15-a-side code, with a World Cup on hime turf as a major reason.
