Everything seemed to unfold in the blink of an eye for German power forward prospect Aleksander Szymczyk.
In early June, the 6-foot-11, 240-pound, 19-year-old from Frankfurt, Germany, received a phone call from first-year Florida head basketball coach Todd Golden. The gist of the conversation was simple: Golden was looking for a skilled frontcourt player who could effectively stretch the floor and thought Szymczyk fit the bill.
The interest was immediately mutual and just a couple of weeks after they first spoke, Szymczyk was on a plane to Gainesville for an official visit.
