Macarthur FC beat Western United after Sydney rain bomb, scores, updates, video highlights

A pair of perfect headers completed Macarthur FC’s fight back against Western United at a soggy Campbelltown Stadium.

First half goals to Matt Derbyshire and Markel Susaeta earned the home side a 2-1 win, as the match between the A-League’s newest teams went ahead despite a day of torrential rain in Sydney.

It ends a miserable week in Sydney for United, who also lost to Sydney FC last weekend, while the result sees Macarthur move up to third on the ladder.

“For us to go a goal down and then get back into the game, scoring two good goals to win the match at home in these conditions, the boys are very pleased,” said Macarthur coach Ante Milicic.

“They deserve full credit for their professionalism.”
