They’ve taken a while to get going this season but after ripping apart a defensively abhorrent Perth Glory for their third win in a row, the Western Sydney Wanderers have made their strongest claim yet that they are legitimate A-League title contenders.
The three-nil victory at Bankwest Stadium was inspired by star striker Mitch Duke who netted a double to make it four goals in six games since returning on loan from Saudi Arabia and helped take the Wanderers into clear second spot on the table and five points behind Central Coast at the summit.
For Perth, the defeat was a stark reminder of their defensive deficiencies as they were torn apart at will by a Western Sydney side who also had three marginal offside goals ruled out via the VAR.
