Murray River communities ordered to evacuate

Communities surrounding the Murray River have been ordered to evacuate immediately as the river pushes closer to breaking its banks.

Echuca residents on either side of the Murray have spent days preparing a three-kilometre long, two-metre-high flood levee.

The Bureau of Meteorology is anticipating a flood peak not seen since 1993 which is expected to come late on Friday or Saturday.
