GWS captain Toby Greene has studs-up in marking contest during West Coast clash in Perth

Toby Greene could find himself under scrutiny from the AFL Tribunal over a rule aptly named after the GWS superstar.

Back in 2017, Greene made headlines after connecting with the face of ex-Bulldog Luke Dahlhaus with his boot in a marking contest.

The 30-year-old escaped with a $1500 fine but it wasn’t the first time he employed the move and it ultimately led to a tightening of the rules two years later, when the use of studs in marking contests or open play could result in free kicks, fines or suspensions.

It widely became known as “the Toby Greene rule”.

The GWS skipper was at it again during Sunday’s clash with West Coast in Perth, leading with his right leg as he took a mark before catching Eagle Tom Cole in the chest.
