Michael Block, a club professional living out a golf fairy tale, hit a stunning hole-in-one in the final round of the PGA Championship to cap an incredible weekend at Oak Hill.
The 46-year-old American was one of 20 teaching pros in the field of 156, but he secured the best result from a club pro in 35 years as he carded a one-over weekend to finish in a tie for 15th.
He revealed on Saturday that his biggest tournament prizemoney was $75,000 USD in 2014 at the Club Professional National Championship. Finishing in a three-way tie for 15th this weekend earns him $288,333 USD or $433k AUD, as well as the right to play at next year’s PGA Championship.
“I’m making sure that I enjoy this moment. I’ve learned that after my 46 years of life, it’s not going to get better than this. There’s no way,” he told CBS after the round.
