World No.127 Cameron Davis is a surprise leader of Australia’s contingent at this year’s PGA Championship after firing three-under in the opening round on Friday (AEST).
The 26-year-old Sydneysider — who was at 200:1 odds to win the major heading in — is the low Australian in the field at Kiawah Island, where Canada’s Corey Conners leads at five-under.
Davis shot two birdies in the first four holes but looked to be in strife when he made a triple bogey on the par-four sixth.

But he bounced back in stunning fashion, answering the triple with a birdie on seven, before making eagle on 11 and another birdie on 14, which fired him into contention.
