There has been mixed news on the injury front for three Socceroos players following last month’s two wins over Lebanon.
WCQ: The Socceroos put five past Lebanon in Canberra, thanks in large part to a starring performance from winger Craig Goodwin.
McGree suffered the injury in the Socceroos’ 2-0 win over Lebanon at Sydney’s CommBank Stadium on March 21.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder didn’t play when the teams met again in Canberra last Tuesday, instead leaving Australia’s camp early to return to his English Championship club Middlesbrough.
Boro coach Michael Carrick has subsequently announced that McGree requires surgery and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.
“Riley needs an operation and is out for the season,” Carrick said.
