The Adelaide Crows have beaten the West Coast Eagles in a race to secure the Greater Western Sydney Giants’ prized first draft pick, ultimately selecting top prospect Daniel Curtin. The Giants were on the clock at pick 8 during the draft and secured a trade with the Crows, who offered picks 11, 15, and a future second-rounder in exchange for picks 8 and 17. This trade allowed the Crows to select Curtin, who had attracted interest from several other clubs including North Melbourne, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs, and Melbourne. The Giants’ decision to trade their pick and the Crows’ successful move to secure Curtin will be showcased during the first round of the 2023 AFL Draft on Fox Footy and Kayo.
