[playing tennis when I was about six years old. My older brother was already playing tennis, and I wanted to be just like him, so I asked my parents if I could start playing too. They signed me up for lessons, and I fell in love with the sport right away. I loved being active and competing, and tennis seemed like the perfect fit for me.
What do you enjoy most about tennis?
I love the feeling of hitting a perfect shot and the rush of adrenaline that comes with competing. I also enjoy the mental challenge of the game – you have to stay focused and make quick decisions under pressure. Tennis has taught me a lot about discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship, and I’ve made some great friends through the sport as well.
What are your biggest accomplishments so far?
Winning the girls’ singles title at the 14/u Australian Invitational Masters was a huge moment for me. It was the first national title I had won, and it gave me a lot of confidence in my abilities. Representing Australia at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals was also a big honor – it was an amazing experience to compete against some of the top junior players from around the world.
What are your goals for the future?
My ultimate goal is to become a professional tennis player and compete in Grand Slam tournaments. I know that’s a long way off, but I’m willing to put in the hard work to get there. In the shorter term, I want to continue developing my game and competing in international tournaments. I’d also love to earn a college scholarship to play tennis in the US – I think that would be a great opportunity to further my development both athletically and academically.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
I’ve always looked up to Ash Barty. She’s an incredible athlete and a great role model, and I love her playing style. She’s also shown that you can achieve success in tennis while staying true to yourself and maintaining a positive attitude, which I really admire.
What do you do when you’re not playing tennis?
I’m a pretty typical teenager in a lot of ways. I go to school, hang out with my friends, and enjoy going to the beach. I also like to watch movies and listen to music in my free time. Balancing school and tennis can be challenging at times, but I’ve learned to manage my time effectively so I can enjoy all of my interests.
What advice do you have for other young tennis players?
I would tell them to always believe in themselves and never give up on their dreams. Tennis can be a tough and frustrating sport at times, but if you’re passionate and dedicated, the hard work will pay off. It’s also important to listen to your coaches, stay focused on your goals, and remember to have fun on the court.
