Five years ago, Fiona Crawley wanted to quit tennis.
She just wanted to go hang out with her friends and go shopping after school.
“I hated tennis when I was 16 years old,” Crawley said. “That’s where I really owe it to my parents for those days when I would be like, ‘I don’t want to go practice. What’s this all for?’ Now, I wake up and I’m so excited to do so much more all the time. It’s definitely been a mindset switch.”
Now that switch is flipped, it seems like nothing can slow down the Alamo Heights alum. The 21-year-old led North Carolina to its first national title in the spring and is currently ranked the No. 1 tennis player in the NCAA.
