The first Grand Slam event of the 2023 tennis season is nearing its conclusion, with the main draw of the Australian Open concluding this weekend.
Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty triumphed in the men’s and women’s singles respectively last year.
The 36-year-old Spaniard did not manage to defend his crown in Melbourne to add to his bulging record haul of 23 major titles this time.
But there is guaranteed to be a new winner in the women’s singles, as 2022 champion Barty retired last year shortly after her triumph on home turf.
